Privacy policy

This policy explains what the Top25z Chrome extension does with information, and how this website differs. Use this URL in the Chrome Web Store listing.
Who we are
Top25z (“we,” “us”) operates the website at top25z.com and the Chrome extension named Top25z: Amazon Category Bestsellers (the “Extension”).
Chrome extension
The Extension helps you see the Amazon category you are browsing and the top bestsellers for the categories a product ranks in. It is built to do that on your device. It does not create an account and it does not send your browsing data to Top25z.
Information the Extension uses
Only after you click the Extension icon, it may read from the current browser tab if that tab is an Amazon shopping page:
- The page URL and whether it is a product, search, browse, or Best Sellers page
- Product title, ASIN, and product image, when shown
- Category breadcrumbs and Best Sellers Rank categories, ranks, and related Amazon Best Sellers links
- Best seller product titles, images, prices, ratings, and ASINs already shown on an Amazon Best Sellers page
To fill those lists, the Extension may request other Amazon Best Sellers pages on the same Amazon marketplace (for example /gp/bestsellers/…). That request is made from your browser to Amazon, using your existing Amazon session if you have one. Top25z does not receive a copy of that page.
If you click a category list for the product you are viewing, the Extension reloads that Amazon page and adds our Associates tag to the URL, replacing a tag that is already there. That happens only after the click. The Extension does not send that URL to Top25z.
What we do not collect
The Extension does not:
- Collect your name, email, address, payment details, or Amazon password
- Track you across websites that are not Amazon
- Run in the background on other tabs
- Add the Associates tag to an Amazon page on its own
- Use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs
- Sell, rent, or share user data with third parties for their marketing
- Use remote code. All Extension JavaScript is included in the Chrome Web Store package
Storage on your device
The Extension may keep Best Sellers lists in chrome.storage.session for about 20 minutes so the popup does not refetch Amazon every time you switch categories. That cache stays on your device for the browser session. It is not synced to Google, Top25z, or other devices. Closing the browser clears it.
You can remove all Extension data by removing the Extension in Chrome.
Permissions
The Extension asks Chrome for:
- activeTab — so it can read the tab you clicked the icon on, for that click only
- scripting — so it can read category and product details from that Amazon page
- storage — so it can cache Best Sellers lists locally for the session
- Host access to Amazon shopping domains — so it can load Best Sellers lists from Amazon (not from other websites)
Amazon and affiliate links
Links opened from the Extension, and the product page reload after you click a category list, include our Amazon Associates tracking tag. If you buy something after a tagged visit, we may earn a commission. Amazon—not Top25z—handles checkout, accounts, and those click records under Amazon’s privacy notice.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.
This website (top25z.com)
The website is separate from the Extension. Browsing top25z.com is optional. If you visit the site (including this policy page’s parent site):
- Most pages load Google Analytics and Matomo so we can see aggregate traffic (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser). Those tools may set cookies or similar identifiers.
- Your browser may store a theme preference (
top25z-theme) in local storage so light/dark mode persists. - Product and category pages show Amazon listings. Clicking through to Amazon uses tagged affiliate links, as described above.
This privacy page itself does not load those analytics scripts. Other pages on the site do.
Google’s practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share Extension usage data because the Extension does not send us that data. Website analytics providers (Google, Matomo) receive the information those tools collect when you visit tracked pages on top25z.com.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Extension or website after a change means you accept the updated policy.
